The first company I want to feature in #YVRlocallove is Pranin Organics, a Vancouver-based supplement company who focus on making organic, whole foods supplements that actually work.
Pranin Organics has quickly taken 1st place for my favourite supplement company (and it doesn’t hurt that they are local either). I first started taking their Mom’s PureFood A to Z prenatal vitamin after seeing Pranin Organics at the Vancouver Wellness Show – I was immediately blown away by their ingredients list and wanted to give them a try. Once I started using the prenatal, I was even more impressed by the small serving size – just 1 tsp a day. I add the supplement to my juice, yogurt, or smoothies daily and find I am loving the energy boost I get from it. It also makes me happy to be nourishing my body and little growing Lucy’s with real foods instead of processed or synthetic nutrients. Try my Tropical Mama Smoothie using Mom’s PureFood A to Z.
I have now branched out to using the PureFoods C, B, and Iron. And let me tell you, I could instantly see the difference in my energy levels (which is needed now more than ever since I am in my 3rd trimester). I have always struggled with anemia and this iron supplement is the first one I have tried that I could feel the results from in a few days (instead of a few weeks with other lower quality supplements). I have been religiously taking the 3 supplements in the afternoon mixed with lemon juice, maple syrup, a pinch of sea salt, and water. Vitamin B is energizing and helps give you an instant energy boost while the iron helps build up the hemoglobin in your blood for a longer term effect, and the Vitamin C helps aid in your bodies absorption of the iron plus gives your immune system a boost. Having this combination in the afternoon has completely replaced my second cup of caffeine that I had to have to get through the day before.
Not only are Pranin Organic‘s supplements effective but they are made with quality ingredients. The company was started by a local Vancouver Naturopath, Dr. David Wang, who found his patients often had negative side effects from traditional supplements and realized real food had everything we needed. Because of this all of their products are made with organic, whole food ingredients. That means no fillers and nothing synthetic. All of their ingredients are sourced sustainably and even their packaging is recyclable.
I reached out to Pranin Organics and have partnered with them to give away 3 prizes of Pranin Organics Smoothie Booster Variety Pack + a BPA-free Shaker Cup ($69.98 value). Each Smoothie Booster (30-gram package) starts out as over ½ kilogram of organic produce and is an amazing whole foods addition to your smoothie. More information about the giveaway below but first here is another way I like to use the PureFoods B and C for an energizing boost in the afternoon or morning with my Energizing Berry Beet Chia Pudding recipe.
ENERGIZING BERRY-BEET CHIA PUDDING
1/2 cup plain yogurt (plant-based yogurts work too)
1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen (or other berries)
1/2 medium beet, roughly chopped
1-2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 scoop PureFoods B
1 scoop PureFoods C
2 tbsp chia seeds
1. In a high-speed blender, combine yogurt, berries, beet, maple syrup, vanilla extract, PureFoods B, and PureFoods C. Blend until smooth, adding non-dairy milk (or water) as needed to blend. Taste and adjust sweetness with more maple syrup as needed.
2. Add to bowl and stir in chia seeds. Let thicken in fridge for at least 1 hour.
3. Stir well and top with desired garnishes.
